You will find a summary of our benefits below:
Health Insurance
Our group health insurance program is offered through United Health Care. GSS contributes 60% of the cost of employees' monthly premium for medical, dental and life insurance. The Choice Plus PPO (Preferred Provider) utilizes the St. Joseph's & Candler Hospital/Doctor Network. We offer two coverage options to choose from: PT-X or PT-Z.
Eligibility requirements: After completion of your 90-day probationary period, you will be eligible for enrollment on the first day of the following month.
For more information please refer to www.myuhc.com
401(k) Retirement Plan
Our 401(k) Retirement Plan is a Mass Mutual product. The plan allows you to put money aside for financial security at retirement. There are tax benefits as well. The amount of your employee contributions, possible employer contributions and all earnings on your account is not subject to current federal income tax until you take them out of the Plan. This tax deferral gives your retirement savings the opportunity to grow under the most favorable terms possible. Eligibility requirements: 12 consecutive months of service (you can then enroll at the following semi-annual enrollment.)
Holidays
Global Ship Systems provides eight (8) paid holidays for full time non-exempt & exempt employees each year. These holidays are scheduled and identified on the company bulletin board located in the White House. The scheduled holidays are as listed below:

Weekend Holidays
When a recognized holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be observed on the Friday before the holiday. Recognized holidays that fall on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday.
Eligibility for Holiday Pay
Employees must work their last scheduled work day before a holiday and their first scheduled work day following the holiday to be eligible for holiday pay. Only regular full time non-exempt and exempt employees are eligible for full holiday pay. Temporary employees are not eligible for holiday pay. Vacation
After one year of service, employees are eligible for vacation as stated on the schedule below. Vacation accrues each month beginning with your 13th month of service. Vacation benefits are based on the employee's anniversary date that occurs in the current calendar year. The employee's anniversary date is established according to the policy. To be eligible to take vacation, the employee must be full time and in active pay status. Part-time non-exempt employees are not entitled to paid vacation.
The vacation schedule is as follows:

2nd Year |
1 week |

Vacation Accrual "Bank"
Once you have completed 12 consecutive months of service and are eligible for vacation to accrue, the following will apply:
We understand that in some cases, employees will need to use their vacation before it actually accrues. In this case, employees may never overdraw their bank by more than 40 hours (five days) before they have accrued it. Employees should also be aware that if separation occurs and hours taken have exceeded their accrued time, those hours will be withheld from the final paycheck for reimbursement of those vacation days taken but not earned.
Vacation Vesting Clause
Once an employee has completed 24 consecutive months of service, their unused vacation time vests and can be carried over to future calendar years. This means that the earned vacation is permanently credited to the employee, not to exceed a maximum of 45 accrued days.
An employee cannot take more than 25 consecutive days of vacation [excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays] during a consecutive 12-month period without the prior approval of their supervisor.
Upon termination, the employee's accrued, but not taken vacation hours, will be added to the final paycheck using the employee's then-current straight-time hourly rate for conversion. Safety Programs
We have designed a Safety Incentive Program that includes cash prizes for employees randomly selected through the monthly "Safety Drawing." Prizes and eligibility are based on you and your department's safety record. Please remember that we focus on providing quality services while maintaining a safe workplace. We ask that all employees stay alert & aware of safety issues.
Prescription Safety Glass Program
GSS will pay up to $90.00 for prescription safety glasses (frame & lenses) with permanent side shields. If you are a qualified applicant who has submitted an application for an open position, you may feel free to contact me directly regarding any questions about these benefits.
Sincerely,
